I’m so glad you asked! A doula is a warm-hearted source of care and guidance to expecting and new families.
Labor support may look like:
words of encouragement
physical support to manage labor pains
birth partner training
suggesting various labor positions
navigating hospital settings and communicating with birth team
protecting the birth space
Postpartum care may look like:
Infant care while you sleep, bathe, or eat a hot meal
assistance with breastfeeding
helping siblings adjust
light housework
cooking and meal prep
grocery shopping
Essentially, care is catered to each family and what they need most!
Doulas are not medical professionals. They do not prescribe, diagnose, or perform clinical exams.

Studies show that having a doula can shorten labor, reduce the need for pain medications or C-sections, and improve overall satisfaction with the birth experience.
Many people don’t realize that your hospital staff are balancing multiple patients, meaning they pop in and out of your room as needed. Your labor nurse usually guides the initial period of pushing, and the OB or Midwife enters the room for the grand finale. A doula will never leave your side!
While the trained medical professionals keep you and baby safe and healthy, a doula seeks to protect the person within. Birth can be unpredictable, and while we can’t guarantee your birth plan goes exactly as you intend, our goal is to help you come out the other side feeling positive and empowered by the experience.

Doula’s rates often vary by years of experience and the region where they work. The cost of my services is up for negotiation.
I offer equity-based sliding scale rates and payment plans. Let’s have an open and honest conversation about what’s realistic for you and come up with a plan together.
